CCRC Members also have access to the Member’s Forum which includes the public news plus member-specific information, news and discussion.
What a difference a day makes!
Yesterday was windy so we changed to smaller head sail, reefed the main and locked up the cruising chute. This morning in Sparkes the wind seemed as strong but as we motored out into the Chichester channel the wind seemed to be dropping as had been forecast. Soon we had the bigger genoa on, the main unreefed and the cruising chute lines rigged. At the start there was some jostling for position and we were all off. On the downwind legs the wind was slight. On the downwind and upwind legs different yachts made or lost places and the fleet of six yachts stretched out.
A great day and fine race.
Winter Social
New for this year is a mid-winter social event on Sunday 1st March at Itchenor SC. The format will be a discussion on the finer points of race management as they refer to CCRC and will be followed by a question / answer session on the Racing Rules of Sailing mostly relating to possible incidents on the start line and mark rounding. Then into a fine ISC Sunday lunch to be walked off along the Itchenor foreshore taking in hopefully many of the harbour’s wintering birds.
So bring rule books, binoculars and most likely wellies if the current weather is anything to go by. Details re timings and bookings will be issued mid Feb
New Web Site
Those of you at the AGM had a preview of the new CCRC website. Well, the new site is now live and includes the programme for 2015. Some sections e.g. trophy cabinet are not yet transferred and some not yet complete but it is there. Information on the new member management system will be out soon.
Clocks Back
‘Clocks Back’ cruise race in company.
On Valinor there was close racing on the water at the finish of the race with Geofon, Intrepid, Valinor and Gunshot all finishing within a few minutes of each other.
Some of us wandered up to St. Mildred’s Whippingham to view the last resting place of Uffa Fox, designer of a lifeboat to be dropped from an aircraft in 1943 and the Flying Fifteen amongst many other classes of boat used today.
The calm before the storm! 😉
Speaking of storm, many thanks to Exeat and her crew for the mulled wine pontoon preload drinks party.

Back from the Baltic
Intrepid is on its way home with just over 100 miles to go after nearly 4000 miles and nearly six months away. See you at the Clock’s Back event.

Intrepid in the Baltic
Intrepid has now visited all the countries in its itinery, though we still have one courtesy flag to use (can you explain why?). We are now though on our way home but still with places to visit that we passed on our way here.
Stuart and Judi were with us three months (they must have the patience of Job). Peter and Di join us shortly and then we have some family coming out. However, if you fancy a bit of a Baltic adventure we have berths available from mid August through to our return in October. We will be visiting southern Sweden, Bornholm, some attractive towns in northern Germany, through the Kiel canal, some Friesen Islands then through the Dutch canals to the Channel (probably staying on the continent side as long as possible).
